Roles and Responsibilities
- Configure and maintain the SIEM system to collect and analyse security event data.
- Develop, customise and manage SIEM security rules to detect and respond to security threats.
- Monitor SIEM alerts, investigate security events and take appropriate action based on their severity and nature.
- Manage the collection, normalisation and storage of log data from different sources.
- Develop and document incident response procedures.
- Lead or assist incident response activities when security incidents occur.
- Analyse and investigate security events from multiple sources.
- Manage security incidents through the incident response lifecycle through to closure.
- Use SIEM, SOAR, UEBA, EDR, NBAD, Splunk, PCAP, vulnerability scanning and malware analysis technologies for event detection and analysis.
- Update tickets, prepare incident reports and document actions to reduce false positives.
- Develop knowledge of attack types and fine-tune detection capabilities.
- Identify log sources and examine system logs to reconstruct event histories using forensic techniques.
- Align SIEM rules and alerts with security policies and compliance requirements.
- Conduct computer forensic investigations, including examining running processes, identifying network connections and disk imaging.
- Maintain and support the operational integrity of SOC toolsets.
- Collaborate with SIEM solution vendors for updates, patches and technical support.
- Maintain documentation covering SIEM configuration, procedures and incident response plans.
- Proactively identify and report security loopholes, infringements and vulnerabilities to the Security Operations Centre Manager.
- Work with IT and security teams during incident response activities to coordinate mitigation efforts.
- Support regulatory compliance requirements and security audit readiness.
- Continuously optimise the SIEM system for efficient performance and responsiveness.
- Develop automation scripts and workflows to streamline common security response tasks and improve efficiency.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- Valid CEH Certificate.
- Knowledge of security managed services.
- Knowledge of SIEM and related security technologies.
- Knowledge of SOAR, UEBA, EDR and NBAD.
- Knowledge of Splunk and PCAP.
- Knowledge of vulnerability scanning and malware analysis.

- Knowledge of incident response and forensic investigation activities.
- Ability to work with SOC toolsets and security monitoring systems.
