The SOC Analyst (Level 1) is a frontline role responsible for security monitoring and initial incident response within the Security Operations Center. This position focuses on accurate alert triage and first-level analysis using SIEM and XDR platforms, following established procedures to enable early detection and minimize security impact. This role is a critical entry point into SOC operations, providing hands-on experience and a clear growth path toward Level 2 and Level 3 analyst roles.

Roles and Responsibilities:
- Monitor security alerts and events using SIEM and XDR platforms.
- Perform initial alert triage and identify potential security incidents.
- Investigate Level 1 security events by following standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Escalate confirmed or suspicious incidents to Level 2/Level 3 SOC Analysts.
- Monitor endpoints, networks, and security logs for unusual activities.
- Document incidents, investigations, and actions accurately in ticketing systems.
- Support incident response activities by collecting relevant evidence and logs.
- Follow incident handling and escalation procedures.
- Maintain awareness of emerging cybersecurity threats and attack techniques.
- Ensure timely response to security alerts while meeting SOC service level agreements (SLAs).
- Collaborate with internal cybersecurity teams to improve detection and response.
- Participate in shift-based monitoring to provide continuous security coverage.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Basic understanding of Cyber Security concepts and Security Operations Center (SOC) processes.
- Knowledge of SIEM platforms (such as Microsoft Sentinel, Splunk, QRadar, or ArcSight).
- Basic understanding of XDR/EDR security tools.
- Familiarity with Windows and Linux operating systems.
- Basic networking knowledge (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP, VPN, Firewalls).
- Understanding of common cyber threats such as malware, phishing, ransomware, and brute-force attacks.
- Knowledge of security monitoring, log analysis, and incident triage.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity frameworks such as MITRE ATT&CK or NIST (preferred).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work in rotational shifts in a 24×7 SOC environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cyber Security, or a related field.
- Cybersecurity certifications like Security+, CEH, SC-200, or Splunk Fundamentals are an added advantage.
