Job Description
As a Business Intelligence Analyst, you will help design, develop, and maintain data-driven dashboards and reports using Power BI and SQL. Your contribution will support strategic business planning and operational performance analysis.
Key Responsibilities:
- Data Acquisition & Preparation
- Collect, clean, and structure data from multiple sources including SQL databases, APIs, and spreadsheets.
- Perform data transformation using Power Query (M) and SQL scripts.
- Validate and monitor data quality to ensure consistency and accuracy.
- Data Modeling
- Develop and maintain efficient data models with appropriate relationships and hierarchies.
- Implement best practices in star and snowflake schema design.
- Optimize model performance for large datasets.
- Dashboard & Report Development
- Build interactive dashboards in Power BI Desktop using advanced features like drill-throughs, bookmarks, and tooltips.
- Create KPI dashboards and scorecards for real-time business performance monitoring.
- Implement visualization best practices for clarity and usability.
- Data Analysis & Insights
- Develop DAX measures for analytical computations.
- Identify business trends and patterns through root cause analysis.
- Support stakeholders in interpreting data and making data-driven decisions.
- Integration & Deployment
- Publish and manage reports in Power BI Service with scheduled refreshes.
- Configure Row-Level Security (RLS) for data privacy and governance.
- Integrate Power BI dashboards into business applications and SharePoint.
- Collaboration & Documentation
- Work closely with business teams to define requirements and deliver actionable insights.
- Document data models, logic, and transformations for ongoing maintenance.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Strong hands-on experience in Power BI – DAX, Power Query (M), and dashboard creation.
- SQL proficiency: ability to write optimized queries, joins, and aggregations.
- Experience in data modeling, ETL concepts, and data validation.
- Knowledge of data governance, security, and performance tuning.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Additional / Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with Azure Data Services (Azure SQL, Data Factory) or other cloud BI platforms.
- Knowledge of Python for data manipulation (optional but valuable).
- Exposure to Git-based version control and BI deployment best practices.
- Awareness of performance optimization for large-scale dashboards.
