Roles and Responsibilities

As a Model Risk Analyst, your responsibilities will include:

  • Performing model reviews and analyzing compliance models for conceptual soundness and practical usage.
  • Guiding business teams on model usage and acting as a primary contact for model-related inquiries.
  • Designing benchmarking models, developing model performance metrics, and comparing outcomes.
  • Collaborating with model developers, compliance teams, and users to provide guidance on model risk.
  • Conducting ongoing performance monitoring and executing governance activities.
  • Evaluating model performance regularly and escalating concerns when necessary.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Education: PhD or Master’s degree in Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, Economics, or Finance.
  • Experience: 0–2 years in quantitative modeling, data science, model validation, or financial risk analysis.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to prepare high-quality technical reports.
  • Proficiency in regression analysis, statistical techniques, and ML models (Neural Networks, SVM, Boosted Trees, LLMs like BERT).
  • Hands-on experience with TensorFlow or similar ML libraries, plus data processing tools (NumPy, Pandas, SciPy).
  • Ability to implement benchmarking models in Python or equivalent programming languages.
  • Risk-oriented mindset with the ability to assess materiality and escalate model issues.
  • Adaptability to work in a fast-paced, results-driven environment.

Preferred Skills

  • Prior experience in sanctions screening, trade surveillance, or transaction monitoring models.
  • Familiarity with compliance-related modeling in regulated environments.
