The Networks division designs, builds, and maintains our network infrastructure globally. It manages relationships with ISPs and data center operators to support efficient internet traffic growth. The Network Planning team architects and manages infrastructure projects within the division.
As Network Delivery Architects in Akamai’s Network Planning Team, we plan, define, and build global network projects. Responsibilities include understanding requirements, creating plans, and coordinating with partners. Projects involve expanding capacity, optimizing costs, and adding new functionality.

Roles and Responsibilities:
- Leading the requirements translation process and synthesizing information to propose optimal solutions.
- Designing and implementing automation solutions to streamline network planning activities, enhancing efficiency while minimizing the need for manual intervention.
- Building network capacity to meet targets and validating the capacity model as conditions change
- Developing an understanding of traffic delivery, Akamai products, and network partner requirements
- Analyzing network data for optimization, defining metrics, and ensuring efficient and cost-effective operations
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Demonstrate expertise with a solid educational background in a technical or management field.
- 1+ years of experience in telecom, internet services, datacenter environments, or networking/telecom infrastructure development
- Demonstrate expertise in networking fundamentals like TCP/IP protocols and familiarity with telecom, internet services, datacenters, or network infrastructure.
- Demonstrate expertise in Python, Linux/Unix systems, scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Perl, Python), and SQL for technical tasks.
- Demonstrate understanding of data structures, algorithms, software design principles, and database concepts effectively and comprehensively.
- Demonstrate knowledge of object-oriented programming (e.g., Python, Java, Ruby) alongside foundational understanding of JavaScript.
- Apply knowledge of data science techniques, including data visualization, time series analysis, and anomaly detection.
- Demonstrate knowledge of AI/ML technologies and their practical applications in networking or automation to enhance outcomes effectively.
