Job Overview – SOC Analyst (L1)
The SOC Level 1 Analyst is an entry-level position responsible for cybersecurity incident monitoring, threat detection, and escalation. Roles and Responsibilities:
- Monitor and analyze alerts generated by SIEM tools (Splunk, QRadar) and other security solutions (Microsoft EDR, MDO, XDR, Cloud Security – Azure, AWS, GCP).
- Conduct initial triage and preliminary investigations of potential threats.
- Perform basic remediation tasks following SOC standard operating procedures.
- Document incidents, actions, and findings accurately in ServiceNow or similar ticketing systems.
- Escalate complex cases to Level 2 analysts promptly.
- Prepare incident reports, shift logs, and daily updates.
- Collaborate with Level 2/3 analysts during shift handovers.
- Engage in continuous training and skill development programs.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or Cybersecurity (or equivalent).
- 0.5–2 years of experience in cybersecurity or IT operations preferred (freshers with knowledge may also apply).
- Strong knowledge of security operations, threat detection, and incident response processes.
- Familiarity with SOC technologies is a plus.
- Understanding of networking concepts: TCP/IP, DNS, protocols, and services.
- Willingness to work in rotational shifts (including nights, weekends, and holidays).
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Industry certifications (e.g., CompTIA Security+, CySA+, GCIH) desirable but not mandatory.
